Sunshine 1049 is all about Christ and His Saving Grace.

We aim to be a positive sound on the airwaves and share the Christian message to those who have Christ in their hearts already and those who He has yet to reach. That’s our mission, our goal, our focus.

Founded in 2019 in Belfast, our Christian radio was born from a simple desire: to make Jesus known, to encourage hearts, and to be a steady voice of hope, faith, and truth in everyday life.

Since our first broadcast, we have been committed to sharing the Good News of the Gospel through music, teaching, testimonies, prayer, and thoughtful conversations. We believe radio is a powerful tool to reach people wherever they are—at home, at work, on the road, or in moments of quiet reflection.

Based in Belfast, we are grateful to serve our local community. But we have Big Ambitions to spread the word even further. Through the expansion of DAB+ across Northern Ireland we will very soon be expanding to serve Lisburn and then Newry & Mourne, Portadown/Craigavon and North Down & Ards when finances allow.

As a non-denominational station we welcome all and exclude no one. Everything we do is driven by prayer, obedience, and a desire to glorify God. Rooted in the Christian faith, our programming reflects the richness and diversity of the Body of Christ.

We seek to uplift, challenge, and comfort, pointing listeners back to the love of God revealed in Jesus Christ. Whether through worship music, Bible-centred reflections, or real-life stories of faith, our heart is to help people grow in their walk with God.

And we also aim to be a really enjoyable positive Station to listen to so that anyone can feel positive in tuning in whether they have found Christ in their lives yet.

Together, we continue to proclaim light, life, and hope through the airwaves.

Sunshine 1049 is a voluntary run station with all monies used to meet our costs, expand our coverage and fulfil our Mission. We do not carry any advertising, nor do we seek lottery funding or sources not conducive to our Christian ethos. We rely only on the generosity of our volunteers and supporters, including individual and corporate donors, to keep us on-air.
